Breeders/Clubs/Rescues

Why Do Breeders, Specialty Clubs and Rescue Organizations Need a Website?

Educate

Educate About Your Breed

Breeders and specialty clubs play a vital role in educating prospective puppy owners. They can provide valuable insights into breed standards, specific feeding and training needs, and potential health issues. Furthermore, clubs should offer ongoing educational resources for both owners and breeders, fostering responsible breeding practices and informed pet ownership.

History

Kennel and Specialty Club History

Websites can visually showcase past litters and pedigrees, enabling prospective puppy owners to view previous offspring and trace the lineage of potential puppies. Similarly, specialty clubs can use images to share past activities, aiming to increase membership and engagement, while also promoting current activities for both owners and breeders.

Latest News

Keep your Owners/Buyers or Members Informed

Share the latest information regarding your current dog sport and breeding activities. Keep your puppy owners and/or potential buyers informed. Similarly, clubs should use their websites to share upcoming meeting dates, contact information, and details about activities for members and visitors, fostering a connected and informed community

If it is not built on a WordPress platform, we will take screenshots of your existing website, copy all of the images and redesign a new and modern custom WordPress Website for you. You will have completed the majority of the setup steps below and can skip to Steps7 and 8.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get my website "live"?

Websites can go live within 48-72 business hours after receipt of ALL information. We will start on your website as soon as we receive some of the information. Your website will be built in a “staging” area and you will be able to view the pages as they are being created. Once you are happy with the site, it will go “live”.

How often can we send in updates or changes?

As often as you want. If you have updated photos or new content copy, please send it in. Most of these changes just take a few minutes to do. Adding or recreating pages can take a little longer, but since this is what we do all day every day, nothing takes that long to update. We will email when your changes are complete.

Are there are any hidden fees? Are we going to be hit with "surprise" charges?

There are no hidden fees. The only fee NOT included in the offer is the cost of the domain. Every website must have a domain name and the website must be “hosted” by a company. The hosting is included in our fees. The domain registration which is an annual charge is NOT included.

The annual domain registration varies but normally is between $15.99/year to $29.99/year. We usually register our domains with SiteGround. However, if you previously had a website, you have been paying for a domain and that is probably registered elsewhere. We can either leave it registered where it is and you just must pay their annual fees or we can move it to SiteGround. We are happy to review the pros and cons of this with you on a case-by-case basis.

If you have an existing website that we are moving to our managed website hosting, there may be a one-time fee to move the website which is approximately $35.

Who owns the Website?

The website is owned by the purchaser (club, rescue or breeder). The website is NOT the property of DMS Group, LLC – we are only the developer. You are free to move your website and all of its contents to any other web hosting company of your choice at any time provided you have no outstanding unpaid invoices with DMS Group, LLC.

I already have a website that I did, can you "fix" it or "update" it?

All of our sites are built in WordPress with the Divi theme and page builder. WordPress is free and over 810 million websites use WordPress as of 2024. WordPress is flexible, adaptable and user friendly even for beginners. We do not maintain or update websites that are not WordPress websites. If you website is a WordPress website, we can just move it to our managed hosting and update it.

If you site is not a WordPress website, we are happy to take screenshots of it, then redesign a similar more modern website for you in WordPress. A versatile WordPress website will allow us to keep your site well maintained and current as well as give you flexibility if you choose to do something different in the future.

How often can we add a page or delete a page?

As often as you would like.  It is your website. Please send us your changes, page additions or deletions as often as you want. We will gladly update the site to your specifications.

What are my options if I no longer want to pay a monthly fee?

If you no longer want to pay monthly but would prefer to have the same services we offer an annual fee which is discounted. Paying $25/month is $300/annually. However, if you prefer to pay for the year up front, we charge $250 for 12 months of service.

If you no longer want us to maintain your website but would prefer to do it yourself or have another WordPress developer do it, we would give you a login to your site and just charge the annual hosting fee to keep your website “live”. We host our websites for $100/year. You would then be responsible for any updates.

However, if you no longer wish to keep your website live, you can stop the monthly service and we will take down your website so it is no longer accessible on the Internet.

Can we accept payments or donations on our website?

Yes, you can accept payments or donations on your website. However, there is an additional annual license fee for the payment process application. We utilize Strip.com as the credit card processing service. Stripe charges credit card processing fees which presently are 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction. There is an option that can be added to the payment screen requesting the payor pay the credit card fees.
